| Gillian Stone has had an uncontrollable fear of dogs since one took off her finger when she was only five. Now her boss wants her to work with them. And with Jarrod DeGroot, their handler. Falling in love with Jarrod is easy, they've been attracted to one another since they first met. She doesn't know that Jarrod has a nefarious purpose for working at the security company. He plans to steal an opal statue back, the one he and his brother had originally found.
Mikala Ash imbues this story with suspense and a powerful romance. Not just one couple, but two are searching for a way to make their love work. The characters and storyline are excellent. Jarrod and his identical twin brother couldn't be more different in personality even though they look the same. Jarrod is only up to no good because he feels it's his only hope. He has a higher purpose of restoring himself and his brother to humanity by dealing with the being in the statue. Pieter is blinded by the lust of a woman who isn't very nice. All she can see is dollar signs so she uses the gullible Pieter to gain money and power. Gilly thinks she's a coward because fear rules her life. She's a much stronger woman than she knows and sets out to prove it with the support of Jarrod. The author weaves together the characters into a superb story full of great eroticism and players who are not what or who they seem to be. Shape shifters, curses, magic and people who live their life to do the right thing always make a great tale for a Christmas story or any time of the year. Ms. Ash gives four people a unique gift and us a great read.
