Noel Harris has never enjoyed Christmas. So many depressing things have happened to him during the holidays. The worst is that his wife died five years ago on Christmas Eve of cancer. When the lights he buys for the tree start to smoke and burn out he figures it's just his bad luck again until he sees a beautiful woman standing by the tree. Natala is an imp who's been trapped with her cousins in the lights. She needs Noel's help to defeat a demon who wants to steal her innocence.

Yolanda Sfetsos weaves one of those stories that will brighten your holidays. Noel seems to have every reason for his angst towards Christmas. Natala's life has been even worse. Perhaps the two can combine their pain from the past and make a brighter future together. The demon they have to battle is a nasty creature who has destroyed the world of the imps, imprisoning those he didn't kill.

The author crafts this story well. Christmas should be magic even though many adults seem to have lost the wonder of the season. She makes it magic again for Noel while keeping him grounded to a certain extent. He doesn't believe easily and, of course, wants proof that Natala is who she says.. Who better to ask than Santa Claus after the internet can't reassure him enough?

This is a great fantasy filled with hope as Noel resolves some of his issues with St. Nick. Love can make any season magic. So it is with Noel and Natala who find joy in one another even when they're fighting evil. Ms. Sfetsos covers the bases well. We grieve with Noel about Christmases past, hope with him through this Christmas present. I'm still smiling thinking what his future Christmases may be like!
