| Deke Halls drove an eighteen-wheeled truck and came into the small tourist town of Noelle, Alberta with too much speed. He dodged Blitzen and blew a tire. That caused him to wreck his big truck which then caused their bigger-than-life sized Rudolph sign to crumble. Of course, the Constable did not believe Deke’s story. Santa, however, walked up and confirmed that Deke was truthful. Constable Lou Dano could not decide whether to charge Deke with involuntary manslaughter second degree or involuntary reindeer slaughter, second degree.
Either way, Deke was under arrest and taken to jail. To accommodate the town folks, court was held in the high school gymnasium. He was still under the impression that this was crazy and he would be allowed to leave when the judge came in. Too bad that he looked and acted a lot like the judge’s ex-husband, Gavin. Judge Laney McGovern was not impressed and, regardless of the circumstances, she sentenced him to 60 days in jail! This is a great fast-paced book guaranteed to be hard to put down. Ms. Stacy Dawn has written a book which absolutely mesmerized me. This story perfectly depicts small-town USA. The judge’s character was detailed enough to make the reader feel sorry for her, but hope for the best. Deke was the epitome of God’s gift. The other characters were wonderfully depicted—they make you feel you know them well. I loved this book and highly recommend it to everyone. It’s a great read, holiday or not.
