| Kia Mays was going home to Columbus, Georgia for Christmas. As an up-and-coming fashion designer in New York, she seldom took time to visit her family. This year her brother and his new wife were bringing her brother with them for the extended visit. Kia’s grandmother, Naya at 72 years of age, was the rock of the family. She and Kia had a connection few ever find. She believed in soul mates and fashioned a wooden doll with the specifications Kia wanted in a man.
Elliot Melton, brother to Cory Mays, hated Christmas and didn’t know why he had promised Cory he would spend the holidays with her new family. The first time he saw Kia he knew his single life was in jeopardy. He had a distinct feeling that Kia had already changed his life. Ms. Christy Gissendaner is a new author to me. I enjoyed the manner in which she told her story—with just a touch of the spiritual world woven throughout. Though that genre is not a favorite of mine, she intrigued me from the beginning. This fast-paced story was about two strong-willed independent workaholics destined for each other. Their traits and personalities were believable and I felt as if I was in the room with them. I highly recommend this book by Gissendaner. It offered sensuality to die for, explosive sex and friendship all thrown together. The family bonds were endearing and the holiday themed book would be great reading at anytime of the year.
