A Christmas Stalking

Police dispatcher Shannon Malloy is being stalked by a murderer who evidently liked her voice when he called 911. She doesn't need a loony. In fact she doesn't think she needs any guy right now. She's just been dumped and her ex is off to Jamaica with a new flame. Shannon's experience with Kyle has been more than enough. Her buddy Dex has introduced her to homicide detective Hugh Montgomery. Shannon's mind does not want anything to do with him, but her body...

There's spookiness and danger here, but little depth. Yes, it's very short. But the characters could have used a bit more development. Did Shannon actually care for Kyle? The story of danger and rescue was fairly predictable. Perhaps a bit more detail of how the 911 system works and Shannon's relationship with her job would have helped.

Author Dalton does have some real writing talent. Her first sentence is a definite grabber, and her villain is totally creepy.
