Jenni is finally starting to dig herself out of the debt she incurred with her adoptive mother’s final illness. After her mother’s death she tried to hunt down her birth mother. Her boss Nate has been under another kind of strain. His fiancée was killed two years before in a car crash, Nate being the passenger. Both Jenni and Nate bury themselves in work to avoid having to deal with emotions.

This is a very nice tale of love between two people who have been hurt before. Nate lost a woman that he felt he should have loved more. He refused for a long time to believe that Cerys’ problems were her own and it wasn’t his job to solve them. Jenni, in making him see this faces the fact that no matter who or what she became she would never make her adoptive parents proud. She was forever tarred with the brush of the unwed mother who gave her up. The story is set around the annual Christmas party for Nate’s firm. Jenni, his P.A. makes all the arrangements for this as well as a particularly important deal. Jenni finally decides to remake herself a little, attracting the attention of one of her coworkers and her boss. The author does a nice job of developing their friendship and their attraction for each other. This is a particularly nice tale for the Christmas season.
