| Cindra Mallory is determined to bring down the criminal who killed her father even if she has to search the whole of the known galaxy. Even if it means making an unusual contract with bounty hunter Bladen Sloan. He'll help her, for a share of the bounty and ten sexual encounters. As they search through dives, raves and sex clubs on two planets, Cindra starts to wonder what is most important to her, finding her father's killer or the erotic sex with a man she can't get out of her mind.
Balden is one of the best in the business and her father admired him, so Cindra was willing to give him a chance, even if the formal written contract said his fee was credits and sex. Not really trained as a bounty hunter, the heroine is brave and determined but the character's actions border on foolishly courageous. You can sort of understand her motives in some cases, but she breaks promises and puts herself in needless danger. A think a real heroine would recognize her limitations and be more cautious. Bladen is a bit too forgiving in my opinion, but the story is strong enough to let that work. The story has plenty of action. I love far-future science fiction that treats space travel and alien worlds as normal life. My concern is that the crimes (kidnapping, drugs and prostitution) and the entertainments (sex clubs and raves), have not changed in the few thousand years for space travel and human colonies to be common place. The current and the distant future just don't quite mesh in my opinion. Still, the story was well written and very enjoyable despite those inconsistencies. The couple has an unusual start to their romance, but the feelings seem genuine. The sex is hot, some of it in public, so as a reader, you have to decide if that works for you. Enjoy.
