Annie Cecile Diamont clings to hope and faith during the four years she and her son Louis hid in the caves near the family home in St. Lucia. After the slave uprising leaves her brother and sister-in-law dead, along with their children, and seeing her son Philippee snatched from her arms and taken away on a boat leaving the harbor, faith was the only thing Annie had left.

After all those years she never gave up that Philippee would someday return, and so even in death Annie still wants and searches for her lost twin son. Over a century has passed and today marks a special occasion. Andre and Jamie Demontagne are bringing their new child home. A son named Philippee. The young couple also have twin girls, who along with others at the home patiently wait for the arrival of the newest member of the family, named after the young child who had been taken from his home so long ago.

Andre and Jamie were not only devoted to their children but to each other. Jamie felt she had truly met her soul mate and with the birth of Philippee it seemed they had all they could ever ask for.

That is until strange things began to take place. Sights and sounds that could not be explained and their effect on Philippee. It seemed, as the child grew older he became more reclusive. What was the reason for it and who was the old woman so many had seen wandering in the old house and on the beach?

I totally enjoyed this husband and wife author team's first installment on this saga and I just have to say, this second book is not a disappointment at all. I can't wait for book 3!

The characters are real and seem to capture us the moment we read their names. I like the fact that they use not only the paranormal effect, but also the weaving of the island culture brings such life to the story.

A must read if you haven't already, the pre-cursor, A Dream Across Time, which is also excellent.
