Miri is half Xxan and half human, and has been trained and brutally disciplined her whole life on Xxan for the moment that she would meet the earthlings and start negotiations. When it finally happens and she figures out that she is going to be the bait to a trap, she turns on her handlers and runs. Then she’s captured by Aleek and everything changes...

Aleek can’t believe the earth council would be so stupid as to believe that the Xxandians would really want peace. He’s prepared for anything, except what happens when it all breaks loose. Because the woman that was supposed to negotiate turns on her handlers and saves a lot of the delegation... and he wants her.

I thought that Miri was a great character, strong and ready to do what it takes to survive but certainly naïve and somewhat willing to be taken over by Aleek. Aleek was a typical alpha male that like to control a situation and does. It didn’t seem that these characters had enough time to get to know one another before they became lovers and romantically involved. I just didn’t feel the connection initially. I was also distracted by the constant references to the different names for body parts that Xxan’s have and it bogged down the story as I had to stop and figure out what it was. I enjoyed the story though. It kept me on the edge of my seat and looking for more.
