| Brenna and Alastair have been a thorn in each others side for over a year. It really got bad when Brenna caught him in the middle of a wild night in a swimming pool with the two women. She went on to write a scathing editorial in the local paper about it. She never mentioned his name, but everyone knew who it was. As much as he'd like to, Alastair couldn't dispute the facts. In revenge, he decided on a plan to get even. He'd seduce Brenna with his legendary charm and leave her high and dry. Unexpectedly, accidents happen and his plan goes even better than he thought. Brenna gets caught with her clothes off and in his house by some co-workers and humiliated. Furious, she decides that she's going to get back at him. Both of them never thought that what started out as revenge will end up as something more. What happens when they start to fall for each other?
Close Quarters is an engrossing book about two people trying to get revenge on each other, and both of their plans backfiring. Brenna is a strong, likeable character, who seems to really have herself together, until she tangles with Alastair. Her unexpected attraction for him really throws her for a loop. Alastair is the typical playboy, who wants to love 'em and leave them, until he has a sexual encounter with Brenna. After that, it seems that no one else holds any appeal for him, and he doesn't quite understand why. Both characters are very likeable, and you find yourself cheering them on as a couple. The sex is unbelievable; it nearly burns up the pages, and there is a lot of variety. Tielle St. Claire has written another winner, and I will certainly be looking for more of her work in the future.
