Life under Gathosian occupation is hard and dangerous, especially for a woman. Winter has been hiding as a boy in the refinery where she works. When her protector is killed, she's saved from a vicious attack by the Civilian Head of the Protectorate, Ulrik Brandt. Brant hates the Gathosians but is forced to work for them. He takes Winter out of the refinery and to the only place she may be safe, a brothel. The factory or the 'pleasure embassy' are the only choices for her. Winter is offered a new life and chance to fight. She's recruited by a secret group trying to discover the antidote to the drug that enslaves all of the Gathosians' conquered peoples. Her assignment is to seduce Ulrick and discover the location of an important scientist. But things don't go according to plan and Winter finds herself bound and at Ulrick's mercy. The searing chemistry is more than either counted on. However, Ulrick has reasons why he can't help the resistance and Winter will do whatever she can to eliminate those reasons.

This is the second in Undercover Embassy series. I suggest starting at the beginning with Codename: Autumn to really understand this world and the resistance movement. This is a very sexy read with some light bondage and a really dominant alien male. The plot continues to evolve and we learn more about the Gathosians and the other worlds they've destroyed. Ulrick tells a heartbreaking story that gives us new insight to depth of evil involved. There's also a bit of action and suspense in the read. Autumn and General Noire are back as well, and the author introduces us to some new characters. This is a very engaging piece of erotic scifi. It weaves scorching hot scenes with a fascinating cloak and dagger story. Very enjoyable. I can't wait for Summer.
