| Cold in California is the story of what really happens to the paranormal races upon death. For Gabriel Strickland, vampire, it means waiting in a Hollywood warehouse/halfway house for deceased paranormals. Gabriel must learn to balance the good and evil he did in his life before he can begin moving on. Enter Dori Gallagher, a temporary job placement agent who throws Gabriel's love life into an uproar as he finds himself wanting her more and more. When evil threatens them both, which side of Gabriel will win? Will good conquer evil or will the reverse ring true?
Not much I can say about this story. As cool as I thought the premise to be... I've never thought about where a vampire would go onnce he died... I hoped for an exciting story. Unfortunately, however, every time I picked it up to read, it put me to sleep. Usually I can read 150 pages in one or two nights, but this one literally took me a month to read. The author has good writing skills, but the story is completely lacking in excitement. I was a little surprised by the ending, which is a good thing. Usually I can figure the story out within the first chapter, but the only thing that really kept me reading was wanting to find out exactly how the author planned to make the story a happy ending, or even if she did.
