When Jon comes rolling back into town for his high school reunion he is more an excited to see his best friend, Wendell. Jon is now a famous musician touring the country and living the life of a star. Wendell leads a very different life back in their home town. When the two men meet again, it's as if the long years apart never existed. Knowing they are on borrowed time does not seem to faze them until Jon has to get on his bus and hit his tour again. When they have to separate this time, is an entirely different experience for both of them.

I am a big fan of Carolina Valdez and In From The Cold proves why. Although the dialogue seemed stilted at times, the plot draws you in and takes a hold right from page one. The conflict is one that seems very real, so real I read the book through in one sitting. Both characters lead very different lives and their personalities definitely correlate with their respective professions. This writing quality makes for some very unique main characters. Although I would have like to have gotten to know Jon's band mates a little better in this story, there is no doubt he reader will make a connection with both main characters and feel the emotions they feel at each step in the book. Jon and Wendell have a connection with each other that is felt right from the start. This connection helps create a good back story that the reader will connect with and understand without confusion. This is one book you will not put down. A good story is one that will make the reader forget his/her own life for a while and In From The Cold certainly does that with, seemingly, little effort.
