| Caly is an alien sent by the council of his world to Earth to capture a criminal. Devin works for the IPC, a government agency equivalent to immigration but to the aliens. She's assigned by her boss to help Caly in his mission. When they go on the last known location where the criminal was seen, they discovers a sex club. Devin calls Mace to help them gain access to the club. But there's a catch. Caly and Devin have to pretend to be Mace's lovers. To Caly, the only function of sex is for human reproduction. So the sensual environment of the club stirs his curiosity about it. It's up to Mace and Devin help Caly to satisfy his curiosity about sex while struggling to complete the mission.
While reading this book, I alternated between laughing and blushing. The author moves from a funny scene to one of extreme sensuality with an ease that I've never read before. Add the talent to write, charismatic characters and an original story and Collective Memory was a wonderful reading. Of the characters that make up the menage, Caly is my favorite. Caly is an alien who is part of a collective memory. Through this memory, it has access to diverse knowledge but not the feelings. So he didn't feel shame, embarrassment and doesn't understand sarcasm. It's he who provides the funny parts in the book. He also has a formal way of communicating that distinguishes him from the humans, making the character more realistic. Mace is the typical alpha. After not being taken seriously by Devin, he takes advantage of the situation to seduce and Devin Caly. And Devin completes the threesome. She has problems with low self-esteem, yet she is confident and sure of her value. Together they are able to set fire to the sheets. The sex scenes between all them or between a couple are very hot and sexy.
