| Marianne Travis is so desperate for a cure for her brother Lex's disease she's willing to team up with the man who left her seven years ago. Nicholas Trent was hit by a hit and run driver, left for dead, saved by a vampire. Now he's going to help Marianne, hoping to somehow make amends for all those years.
Kai Andersen does her part to make this series an excellent collection of love stories. The author gives us a little more information about The Collector and his quest for all the pieces of the totem of love. Marianne and Nick are well built as lovers. The eroticism is well done. Nick's story of becoming a vampire, avoiding Marianne because of fear of rejection, is believable. Franco de la Verde, the man who holds the statuette, is a nasty man. It's a thrill for the reader that they use his weaknesses against him as he has the people of the Philippines. The ending is a well written surprise. This is one of the better books of the series so far. Kai Anderson has done a great job building the characters and dialogue. It's easily read and fun from beginning to end as Marianne holds to her altruistic wishes for her brother and Nick shows off the powers of the vampire.
