| Charles de Fayette, a nobleman of France with not so noble attributes towards his fiancée, attempts to rape Colette D’Estaing. Unknown to Colette, her childhood love is a horse shifter. He can’t control himself when he sees the love of his life being brutalized. Shifting to his horse persona he kills Charles in his anger. The two see no alternative so the two lovers with Gaston’s shifter offspring run away together.
Deirdre O’Dare gives us a great love story for horse lovers everywhere. Both Colette and Gaston are much more noble and honorable than the dead man! Set in eighteenth century France this tale shows us that there are no real boundaries to true love. Whether man or horse Gaston is a wonderful man and doting father to his two horse shifter offspring. The two don’t let the gender or social boundaries of the times hamper them in their attempt to do what’s right for them. Maybe running from problems isn’t always the best alternative but they do what the times call for. This is a sweet love story.
