| While volunteering his services to helping the poor out in a soup kitchen, police offer Seth Colters sees a shabbily dressed beauty standing in line. He is baffled by the dark, possessive instinct that tells him she belongs to him. For Lily Weston, home is a secluded nook in a back alley until Seth offers her a place to stay. Unable to resist having somewhere warm to stay if only for one night, she accepts his offer. Then the problem that he never expected to happen does. His two brothers, also started having the same primitive and instinctual need to have Lily as their own. Soon these three brothers, along with Lily, will have to face some life changing realities.
This book is part of Maya Banks' Colter family series. While not as outstanding as the previous books, this story does have its moments. Lily has faced hardship and emotional pain in her life. So meeting Seth as well as his brothers Michael and Dillon, was an eye opening experience. I felt that Lily needed to get a backbone and stop acting so childish and helpless all the time. On the other hand for the brothers, although raised with more than one father and having grown up in a family filled with multiple partners, the situation could not have been easy for them. But when the situation called for Seth, Michael and Dillon to face one of life's difficult decisions concerning Lily, they did with an overwhelming love and caring towards one another. This story is not your average romance reading. It can raise a few eyebrows causing some to question the author's thinking process when this book was written. I give Ms. Banks kudos for writing this story and look forward to reading more of her works.
