| Lazarus is a unique blend of Angel, Tracker and Vampyre. He is destined to lead the Tribe and to sire a son who will defeat and destroy the Dark Breed. His mother and uncle watch over him. In time he meets and marries Neomina, the daughter of a Tracker and saved Dark Breeder. An evil Dark Breeder, Percival, what is left of Lazarus’ uncle’s son, is determined to take everything that is Lazarus’, and then move on to the mortal realm. He faces a formidable team of Lazarus, Neomina, and Uncle Monty, the angel.
Basically, this is a classic tale of good overcoming evil. The members of the Tribe are Vampyre, but do not drink the blood of mortals. They survive on fruit and wine from heaven. The Dark Breeders are the classic evil vampires who live on blood. The different factions and the strange mixture of Roman and Christian doctrine can be pretty confusing. Neomina is a great character, very strong and loyal to the man she loves. Lazarus is a bit more complicated. He is determined to do good and is sometimes determined to martyr himself for his cause, not realizing that that is probably not the best way to save his Tribe. Neomina, Lazarus’ mother Octavia, and Monty seem to have a bit more common sense. Percival is quite wonderfully evil, but the reader will feel sorry for him because he has suffered also. Overall, this is a really creative vampire tale with a different take on the relationship between Heaven and Earth.
