| His first chance to have a lead role in a play doesn't start off well for Reggie Grayson. The stagecoach his small troupe of actors is on gets robbed. The opera house is a disappointment. He has trouble remembering his lines. Someone has been sending him gifts. Curiosity is a distraction he intends to rectify by finding the person responsible. What he finds may lead to a lasting change in his life.
Aaron Michaels pens a great romance with a group of well developed characters in a storyline that shows both subtlety and craftsmanship. Reggie seems to be lost in his own world. Trying to become an actor is his central focus in life. The robbery and life in Virginia City during the silver rush seems to open his eyes to the plight of miners and those around him. Michaels elevates this book above others of its kind by helping the two men find love while also addressing a social plight that seems to go on forever. Within the great story is a subtle touch of irony that a stage robbery could lead toward finding his own life hero and making a better man of Reggie. The author weaves this story well.
