Cait Lang, head Curator of an art gallery and Grant Pierson, wealthy art collector, share a love of Egyptian artifacts. Dealings between them are always pure business when her boss has her calling or showing him a new artifact to bid on. An incredible scroll comes into the gallery’s possession and Cait’s boss tells her to use any means to ensure that Grant is interested enough to bid. As Cait explains the scroll’s history, the story of Nayari concubine of Ammonptah and Khanu warrior in his service around 1200 B.C., it seems to stir the flames neither knew the other had burning. The possibility that Cait could lose her job for having a relationship with Grant doesn’t stop the heat that builds between them from boiling over during the telling of the ancient couple's journey to fulfillment of their love for one another.

Nayari’s master wants to give her to a Wizard as a gift to purchase a spell that will help him dethrone the current Pharaoh. The author uses such great detail that she brings to life the plot, the places, the people and the exquisite love story that grows out of his evil desires.

In a shorter work, Ms. Colgan is able to build two complete love stories over 3000 years apart. The descriptions of ancient Egypt and the ways of the populace are interesting from a historical as well as romantic standpoint. Both interwoven stories take over completely when they are being told but seem to switch naturally back and forth. I adore the way this fine novelist wraps up both stories in such a romantic fashion. This is well worth the read.
