Ian Kincaide is undercover and chasing a suspect when he walks off a curb and straight into a car. Dana Hunt breaks her cardinal rule and reaches for her cell phone while she's driving. The resulting thump she heard was a man. Terrified of what she's done, she tries to convince this dirty, homeless looking man that he should let her take him to a hospital. He refuses but she leaves him her business card if he needs her to take care of him. When Ian is finally able to follow up and meet her in person, she informs him she doesn't date cops. So where does that leave Ian?

Dana has good reasons to avoid falling in love with a police officer. Her father had died in the line of duty and it destroyed her family. Ian has strong reasons to believe she is the woman he's been looking for and he hopes he can change her mind. Ian is a great character with determination and humor. The story revolves about how he uses his nephew to meet her again to get her interested enough to break her own rules. Ian is very inventive and funny. Dana is likeable and she's able to laugh at his obvious machinations even as she tries to send him away. The story is fast paced and well written. It's a fun, easy read. Enjoy.
