| Madly in love, Jessie Kennedy and Rhys Farrel are
getting married after knowing each other for only
three months. On the day of their wedding, the
discovery of a body in an old well on Jessie’s
property forces them to postpone the ceremony. The
dead man is Pat Romano, Jessie’s friend. Since he was
found on Jessie’s property with a pair of her scissors
in his back, she becomes the number one suspect and is
taken in for questioning.
Jessie is surprised when Rhys walks into the room where she’s being held and tells her he’s going to be her lawyer. She had no idea he was a lawyer, but since Jessie has been keeping her own secrets, she isn’t angry with Rhys for keeping his. With danger lurking around every corner, Jessie and Rhys must learn to trust each other completely so that they can work together to prove Jessie’s innocence and escape the killer who’s stalking them. Joyce and Jim Lavene definitely know how to write romantic suspense. They pull you right into the heart of the mystery on page one and keep you enthralled until the very end. Jessie and Rhys are complex, well-developed characters. Their strength, determination, and wit make them very likable. This terrific romance leaves you thoroughly satisfied and eager to read this writing team’s next book.
