Suzanne Taylor is good at her job as a family law attorney, but when she finds herself with a new client -- the battered wife of a councilman -- she finds herself in for the toughest battle yet in the courtroom.

Lieutenant Nick Santone doesn't think anyone is better at their job than Suzanne Taylor, so he sends a client her way knowing she can help. What he doesn't expect is for Suzanne to be threatened by the client's husband, which is why he's made sure to stay close to her to make sure she's protected at all costs.

Let me start by saying this was an incredible story with an interesting plot that lured me in from the beginning. It was good to read that both Suzanne and Nick were dedicated to their jobs, and to helping those that need it. I really enjoyed the dialogue between the heroine and hero, and how intense it became at times because neither of them was willing to compromise on their beliefs in helping those who needed it. The sex scenes were hot, and definitely showed the fiery attraction between the two that had been brewing since the moment they first met. What I liked so much about both characters was their strong personalities, but also that Suzanne allowed Nick into her life when she realised the threats to herself and her two daughters was very real and that she couldn't protect them on her own. While with Nick, I liked how protective he was of both Suzanne and her two daughters. He definitely showed that he took his duty of serving and protecting very seriously.

Overall, this book was a worthwhile read and one I'd definitely recommend to fans of the romantic suspense genre and to those who want to get into reading this genre.
