| Mackenzie Calhoun has always known from an early age that Chase Masters was the one. Yet there is a ten year gap between their ages, and convincing him to take a chance on love was never going to be easy. Then just after her eighteenth birthday, she tried her hand at seducing him, but he stung her pride by rejecting her.
Chase Masters knows he hurt Mackenzie Calhoun when he rejected her, but ten years later he's willing to make up for the past. Especially when he learns her father died and she's having trouble holding on to the ranch that's been in her family for years. In exchange for helping her, all he wants is somewhere to sleep and three meals a day. Seems simple enough, but being around her every day is going to be rough. Because she tempts him more than any other woman has. Crystal Rain-Love has written an excellent story with two great characters whose love for each other has taken ten long years for them to finally realise they are a perfect match. Emotions run wild in this book especially for Mackenzie, leading her to take drastic action and wake Chase up to the fact that they're meant to be. Mackenzie was a fantastic heroine. Going after what she wanted, no matter the outcome. And even though Chase threw her love for him in her face, it didn't once distinguish the flame she held for him. In fact, it burned brighter than ever ten years later. As for Chase, he was a loveable hero. Even when he was pushing away the woman he cared most about. I couldn't fathom why he didn't feel he was good enough for Mackenzie until he revealed the truth about his life. But how could he think that would matter to her? So they grew up differently. Why did he think Mackenzie would love him any less? Also, this book ended well with Mackenzie's persistence paying off. Showing that a woman does not need a man to chase after her. That she's the one who can do the chasing, and get exactly what she wants. No matter how much time it takes.
