Thrilling excitement and suspense takes place in Variance: The Countdown by Cassidy McKay. This is a story about evil creatures from another dimension that come to mate and to kill women with a specific marker in their DNA. Wynne is a police dispatcher and believes that the threat is human. She is a logical thinker and does not easily believe in magic and parallel dimensions. Brent is strong, courageous and has faced this threat many times before. Wynne thinks him handsome and arrogant. It will be a battle of wills until Wynne actually sees proof in front of her. Brent recognizes Wynne as his mate; this adds another complication to the mix. Now the danger is personal to him and he is easily distracted with the desire that he feel building for his mate. The characters are very colorful; I even found myself liking the cat George. Sparks fly between Wynne and Brent. Wynne tries to turns her desire and frustration into anger toward Brent. The chemistry turns out to be too strong to deny and the passion explodes between them. Many steamy scenes take place that are described in explicitly graphic details. Suspense builds as the countdown continues and Wynne’s friends continue to die. The action is thrilling as they fight against the creatures and easily visualized through the author’s descriptions. This story will take the reader through various emotions as they read including humor. Variance: The Countdown by Cassidy McKay is a wonderfully original story filled with exciting action, thrilling suspense, and hot, steamy passion. This is a story I can easily recommend to the readers if they enjoy paranormal romances.
