| City Girl Ronnie and her young daughter Natalie moved to the
country farmhouse for a change of pace. Selling handmade
crafts and easing into the life of the community sounded the
perfect plan. Ronnie brought an assortment of preconceived
notions along for the ride so life, being ever so
cooperative, gave her ample opportunity to bump into those
notions.
Country Boy Dave grew up in that same farmhouse, then moved into the log cabin next-door. Determined to improve the bottom line and reputation of the family business he inherited, Dave was seldom home. His name made all the tabloids as the wealthy CEO bachelor who spent his spare time with a country music star who soon discovered and loved Ronnie’s original dishes. Ronnie could have enjoyed Dave as a neighbor, or as an attractive man, if only he hadn’t turned out to be rich and ready to help her business grow without asking her permission. She wanted to do things her own way, to make her own decisions. Dave wanted to be with Ronnie and couldn’t seem to do two things in a row right with her. He’d get a smile, see Ronnie relaxed for a bit, then say or do something that set all her defenses on full alert again. Natalie adored Dave, and he adored her, too, even as he used her as a way to spend time with her mommy. How would Dave ever find a secure place in Ronnie’s heart? How would Ronnie ever find the courage to admit even to herself that she loved Dave? Cynthianna Appel’s Country Boy, City Girl answers those questions and more within the context of a friendly country neighborhood.
