| Dr. Ben Taylor was the sole doctor in Jasper, Idaho, a town with a population of 300. He and his dog Gypsy, a Great Pyrenees/Irish Wolfhound mix, were struggling while he tried to function from a wheelchair. This rugged town was patient with him after his motorcycle accident. He had much trouble recruiting doctors to this rural area. He requested a resident from Portland for a three month rotation with him.
Dr. Julia Chambers, senior resident doctor from Portland Hospital felt that she was being punished by being sent to that little hole-in-the-wall in Idaho. She had panicked when she lost a pregnant woman and her baby due to complications. She didn’t know if she would ever be able to face another delivery. Things didn’t look to promising since there were twins who were each facing complicated deliveries in the upcoming months. Ms. Patrice Moore has penned a great story with a spellbinding plot. Julia had many issues to confront. Ben couldn’t seem to break through her resolve. Their attraction was luminous but Julia was determined to fight that connection. Moore presented a storyline with several trauma situations which made the story especially interesting to me. She also introduced a small town full of people who made Julia feel that something could be different in a small town. The diverse cast of characters, as well as the rural setting in Jasper, made an impact on the young doctor from Portland. The love scenes were vague and understated. However, that did not detract from the beautiful love story. The ending of the book was quite surprising. I highly recommend this book for anyone regardless of age or preferred genre. The medical situations were graphic, but exciting. Moore has presented us with a book that you will be thrilled to have read.
