| Events are heating up in the courtroom and for once, it is not just because of an unruly defendant. Judge Jackson Benedict has been receiving mysterious "gifts" lately. However, the situation seems to be escalating as he has discovered someone has broken into his house. Calling in for some protection and help, Jackson gets Trey London, the man Jackson just happens to be lusting after, big time.
Trey cannot help feeling a bit (okay, a lot!) excited at the prospect of guarding Jackson. Trey takes his job very seriously, but he also wants the chance to get to know Jackson. The attraction has been simmering between them and the danger Jackson faces may just be the impetus these two need to finally fall in love. Annmarie McKenna definitely knows how to pen an erotic story! From the moment Trey stepped into the court room, the lust and attraction just started simmering off the pages of this book. Fortunately, there was a solid sense of building friendship and caring that grows between Trey and Jackson as the story progresses. While the mystery surrounding Jackson's "gifts" is compelling, I was more engrossed in the emerging love story. Jackson has always kept his sexuality under wraps, but with Trey, he does not want to do that. The feelings between them are too strong and he would be doing an injustice to those emotions if he did not acknowledge them. Jackson's struggle between his career achievements, family, and his own desires was nicely written into the story, without taking too much away from the main romance. Court Appointed has subtleties, intricacies, and enough humor to keep the danger situation in check. McKenna is an author to watch out for.
