Constance had messed up badly! She was caught by her fiancé, Sir Geoffrey, flirting with another man. He broke their engagement. She still loved him and was willing to do whatever it took to get him back. He allowed her to keep her pearl necklace; however, when she was travelling to Bath with Mrs. Guyer and her best friend, Harriett, that necklace was stolen. She allowed it to be taken because she needed her pin money to finance her attempts to get Sir Geoffrey back in her life. Her determination was emphatic.

Sir Geoffrey was determined to seek out Constance and make sure she paid for her indiscretions. He meant to make her suffer as he had. He would never allow a woman to cause him such pain again. His friend, Robert Beauchamp, Lord of Fenway, was allowing himself to be used by Geoffrey. During the process, he fell for Harriett, Constance’s friend.

This is my first exposure with Ms. Teryl Cartwright. I can assure you that it will not be my last. She has a funny way of looking at the subject of marriage during this Regency period. The tongue-in-cheek story was quite amazing. It was like a calamity of errors! Whatever the main characters did, it seemed to backfire. The secondary cast just made the storyline more hilarious. To involve two women, one very outgoing and one rather shy, with two men of such high esteem in the area, was really entertaining to read about.

I can guarantee that there will be no slow times during your experience with this book. I found myself enthralled. I couldn’t put it down. It was a oversized novel. I still didn’t want to quit reading. The scenarios written were so believable. It was as if I was reading about some close friends.

I highly recommend this book to anyone. I plan to watch for this name and read anything I can find. I will go back and read the prequel to this book. Great job, Ms. Cartwright!
