| Ann Marie Skolack owned the Double S ranch after the death of her husband seven months ago. She knew money was tight but had no idea how bad things really were. She hired a cowboy horse trainer to train her star stud, Black Jack. Ironically, this horse was responsible for her husband's death. She and her son Tyler also lived under the cloud of an abusive father who was beyond prosecution—he was a great senator.
Travis Brooks answered Ann Marie's ad for a horse trainer. After discovering she was a widow, he refused to work for a woman. She, in turn, threatened to take him to court. He had signed a six-month contract and she held him to it. Travis had a haunting past which caused him to shut down his heart. He would not allow himself to acknowledge his attraction to his beautiful boss. Ms. Sandy Sullivan has a writing style which appeals to me. She keeps weaving her plot throughout the book to increase readers' interest. She succeeds. Her main characters are realistic and make me feel as if I know them personally. She maintains myriad storylines which create even more appeal. This depth assures a desire to keep turning pages. The sexuality portrayed is both intense and frequent. It is not for the faint of heart. It is also not “cookie-cutter.” The recurring scenes are presented in a variety of manners so that it is not boring. This book is another great #1 in an apparent series. I can promise I will look forward to her future offerings. Sullivan is an interesting author. I recommend this book for any consenting adult that likes sizzling, highly erotic scenes with a very exciting, tender story woven throughout.
