| Jessica McKay was a widow. Her husband was killed two years before in a car accident. He had cheated on her the entire marriage. She shouldn’t have been surprised when she was confronted by Luke’s brother, Brandt, about a little boy whom Luke had fathered. Jessie had been thrown out of the marital home because Luke’s father hated her. She kept in touch with some of the family. In fact, she worked for a couple of them in their day care business.
Brandt had been in love with Jessie since the first time he saw her. He backed off when she was married to Luke, but he was horrified about Luke’s infidelity. When he was contacted about taking care of Landon, the 16-month-old child, he went to Jessie for help. His mother was a pushover and went along with everything his father demanded. His father had always been harsh. Since his son died, he had been horrific. Ms. Lorelei James has written a beautiful love story which finally settled all the questions. I honestly did not know how she would possibly make this situation work. The plot was great but it was never clear how the HEA could win. The two main characters were surrounded by a myriad of supporting ones. Even though it was so clear where the storyline was going, it wasn’t clear at all. The ending was nothing like I expected. This conflicting idea is one of the things that worked so well in the telling of this story. The sensuality of this book was quite compelling. It was frequent and explicit. It was well written. The various people were so believable but were also sharply developed. This definitely is not a book for the faint of heart. The basic story is emotional. The depth of the book is so realistic it was almost impossible to put the book down. I recommend this book to everyone who is over the age of 18 and enjoys explicit sexual encounters. It is surprisingly well developed.
