| As a newly promoted publicist for TK Publishing, Candy Logan takes her job seriously. To call her newest client, Lucas Squires, elusive would be an understatement. Determined to hunt him down at all costs, she crashes the pre-opening party of his coffee shop with one goal in mind; sitting Lucas down and making sure he commits to doing publicity for his cookbook. Lucas wishes he had never written the darn thing. His days are filled with planning the opening of Coffee Breaks, his café. He doesn’t have time to be carted around town and handling interviews with reporters. Plans change, however, when he catches sight of his dream woman come to life, Candy. The attraction is instantaneous and he’s willing to do whatever it takes to win her. After a few bumps in the road, will their burgeoning romance be squashed when their pasts come back to haunt them?
A man that likes to cook, is successful, and worships my body as if it were a work of art??? I’ll take one please! Even with his troubled past, Lucas is a character that will make each and every woman swoon and sigh. He’s the strong Alpha that romance readers love with that bit of vulnerability that cements him into our hearts. I loved Candy’s insecurities and issues she still harbors from her past as well. Her imperfections made her a perfect heroine. Her stubborn will matched with Lucas’s made sparks fly from beginning to end. I couldn’t put the book down and when my Palm Pilot died from a low battery I scrambled to my computer to finish this story. This is the fourth in Ms. Walters’s Awakening Desires series and let me tell you… Desires were awakened! I loved the even pacing, which made this an easy read. The emotional angst peppered throughout the novel kept me on the edge of my seat as I tried to guess the outcome of Candy and Lucas’s relationship. I’m hoping that this won’t be the final installment in her Awakening Desires series as I’m sure there are plenty of other desires yet to see the light of day.
