| Serafina had never fully recovered from the love of her life being ripped from her arms when she was young. After that happened, she’d been forced to marry a man for her Uncle’s political gain and to save her sister and lovers life. Over the years she found it wasn’t such a bad life with her political marriage, but she has to admit she’s glad she has finally got her freedom when her husband died last year. Then she finds out it’s not over yet when her old lover Antonio steps back into her life. Will she welcome him back or try to stay free?
Antonio is curious when Serafina is finally free of her husband. He decides that he wants to see why she married the man her Gardian brought her, and didn’t trust Antonio enough to protect her so long ago. When he sees her again, he knows he can’t let her go. But what if she doesn’t want him anymore? This was an interesting story that had a lot of potential but it left me with a lot of questions. I couldn’t get past her staying 600 years with an understanding husband… I didn’t understand why she stayed with him that long if she loved Antonio as much as she said. She had to be aware of how powerful Antonio was, and If Antonio was so powerful why didn’t he come after her? There were some great things in the story though, one of them was that Serafina would not just jump into his bed and live happily ever after, she took her time and wanted to make sure it was right, which is unusual in a romance. The characters seemed a little one dimensional even though there was background on them; they sometimes seemed a little distant from the story. Overall, this was a good story that definitely kept my attention squarely on it until I was done. Worth a look!
