| After Evangeline murdered Crimson in book 2, Bastian turned her to save her life because Copper begged him. He also mated with Copper and couldn’t mentor two fledgling vampires, so Bastian’s maker, Henri, and his mate, Nathan, took over responsibility for Crimson, fully intending to kill her if she failed in learning to control her bloodlust. Lang, a long time enemy of Henri and a major mob boss hired the toughest assassin known, Rojo Rose, to kidnap Crimson. Lang thought she must be a conduit if her identical twin was. Rojo only fed on and killed mobsters who deserved death. It wasn’t long before he had to admit that he was in love for the first time – with his target.
Crimson’s Rose by Mechele Armstrong is red hot! Rojo, Spanish for red and Crimson steam up the hot house when they make love amongst the roses. Rojo was stunned to realize he was in love. Despite the fact that everyone she’d ever loved or trusted had betrayed her, Crimson had let herself fall in love with Rojo. Their characters are well developed and endearing. I was longing for everything to work out for them. It hardly seemed possible since Crimson was going to find out Rojo was working for Lang and she wouldn’t understand that it wasn’t betrayal. The supporting characters, especially Henri and Nathan are real and complex. They have a robust sex life and are very demonstrative with their affection both physically and verbally, as are Bastian and Copper. Their banter is hilarious and provides a small respite from the tension. This is a very entertaining, delightfully sexy read. The sexual as well as suspenseful tension are thick as Rojo tries to keep his mind off sex with Crimson long enough to find a way to protect her. Rojo has a secret that just may be the only way to save her. You’ll love this book, the perfect end to the series.
