Marrin and Keane have a relationship that surpasses even friendship. The warm loving bond between the two actually began when Marrin applied for a field husband; a man able to handle the rough life on her homestead. She, her first husband and their children had come with the first colonists to this homestead planet, looking for a new life. It was hard, hard work the first few years and, shortly after their arrival, her husband died of a virus. It took three more years before she had to admit that she needed help, and desperately. Applying to get a field husband, as it was called, paired her together with Keane. Gorgeous Keane, a beautiful man, not only physically, but also emotionally. He became attached, right from the start to his new family. And Marrin came to realize just what a wonderful husband, father and friend she was lucky enough to have; full of patience, love and understanding, and an unbelievably wonderful lover to boot.

This is a beautiful story. It begins with the present day and is written moving back through certain stages or events; so very well done. I found that fit the story perfectly just because it gave the reader more of a picture of their lives together without having to build it up, as is more traditionally common. Note: This has a tearjerker scene that is just perfect toward the end. Make sure you have plenty of tissues at hand. Incredibly romantic. Wonderful!
