| All Rose Clarrings wanted was to be loved. When her husband contracted mumps leaving him sterile and unable to sire children, he turned to drink, leaving Rose in a passionless void. Rose has had enough. The pain she and her husband endure is slowly destroying them both. But in a time when women have few rights over their destiny, she seeks the help of the very man who, in a court of law, made her notorious, Jack Lodoun.
Jack has never recovered from the death of the woman he loved. A woman that was another man’s wife. When Rose asks him to help her, he at first refuses. But Jack can’t help notice the pain he sees reflected in her eyes, it mirrors his own. Regardless of the consequences, he embarks on finding a way to help her. Together they seek a solution, but in doing so they find love and passion they both desire but at a cost that could destroy them both. I rarely read historical novels. Robin Schone, however, is one of the select few. Her stories are hard-hitting and intense in their ability to produce emotional responses from her readers. Cry For Passion is such a book. It is an astounding page turner that held me breathless. The characters are true to life, their lives reflect the times in which this novel is set. In graphic detail, it portrays the difficulties that women had just being independent when they had few rights. This novel is about love and a powerful connection that forms between two people that are torn between love and guilt and the need to have something more in their lives and the lengths they will go to. Betrayal, guilt, lust all play their part as does friendship and love, culminating in a satisfying ending and the belief that Rose and Jack find happiness and all they desire. Cry for Passion follows on from Scandalous Lovers it does however, stand-alone but read in order brings forth a greater understanding of the characters and their motivations. Deep and meaningful this novel was extremely satisfying to read, leaving me eagerly anticipating the next story.
