| Amelia Calhoun has a great paying job but feels that since she is nearing the age of thirty she needs to modify her life. It's time to settle down and forget about this money making job as a problem solver for a new mob based as a pharmaceutical and price fixing company. She can't really settle down and have children then leave them at a daycare center only to plan her next kill for the day. Unfortunately, Amelia had no idea that by leaving she could wind up six feet under, but everyone must pay a price for attempting to leave the company. It wasn't simple like working at a bank. When a messy hit leads her to believe that someone is setting her up, she believes the man she once cared for has been commissioned to kill her. She desired a change but nothing this drastic.
Nick Statilini took pity on the little girl after a bullet claimed her father's life, and she was left with no parent. He saw potential in Amelia and took her in, certain that he could tutor her well enough to become a great assassin. He never imagined that after all he gave her that she would one day wish to leave the business. Devin knew Amelia many years ago. He would like nothing more but be with her again and even enter another profession but sometimes things don't turn out that way. When he follows Amelia, is he out to kill her or help her? It is a race for time when the two are matched together, but when Amelia realizes she is in love with Devin, does it only make matters worse for her? Crying Blood has so much intrigue and a plot with twists and turns that it leaves the reader spellbound. Amelia is tired of the killings and of being responsible for all the deaths. When she goes to her beachside getaway for some relaxation, after the close of her last hit, she finds herself in more grave danger. Now who to trust is the hardest question to answer. This book is loaded in anticipation and drama. The secondary characters really make this story weave into a fantastic roller coaster ride. Jennifer Cloud certainly knows how to entertain. I was on the edge of my seat when Amelia got stopped by the police not long after making her hit. I just knew they were going to lock her away. Crying Blood has you guessing all the way through the book who to trust while Amelia scurries to get out of the entrapment she so wishes to leave. Ms. Cloud knows how to generate a suspense that keeps the reader on their toes.
