Once upon a time Abby was a technical writer living in Helena. The local alpha werewolf saw her in a bar with her friend Dylan, who was in his pack unbeknownst to Abby, and decided that he wanted her for her harem. Now she is a werewolf with no idea of the rules. With the help of Dylan, they escape to Red Rock, a sanctuary for werewolves. Abby needs a guide to help her through her first few changes. Keith would like to be that guide. Abby affects him as no one has since his mate Kelly was killed, but he wants Abby to make that choice for herself. There are other problems. The Helena alpha is not just going to let her go without a fight, putting her sister Brynn in danger. Somehow they must rescue her without starting a war between the packs.

This is a very sensual tale with charismatic characters. Keith and Abby are obviously very powerfully attracted to each other, but Abby does not know whether she or her wolf has chosen him. Keith has doubts about his ability to protect a mate after the loss of Kelly, who was a much weaker wolf than Abby. Abby’s power attracts all kinds of attention, both good and bad. The author has created a world where the wolves are in a crisis. There is a conflict between the old ways and alphas who are power hungry and corrupt. It is easy to follow the traditions and ways of these wolves which make reading the story more enjoyable. The chemistry between Keith and Abby is very strong and their love scenes are scorchers. The two alphas of Red Rock, Gavin and Sam are very strong characters, but I would like to know a bit more about them and their history, there is definitely a story there. The subplot of Cindy and Dylan is also well done and I look forward to reading more about them and Brynn and Joe.
