| Nicole is a hard working gossip columnist that had fallen on bad times due to a misunderstanding with one of the stars that she interviewed. She’s back to doing the stories that are not as high profile, and she’s determined to change her luck. She’s had a break... she just found out where Dominici Serafino is and is determined to get the interview of a lifetime with the reclusive celebrity. Little does she know what she will be walking into...
Dom is a dragon shapeshifter working undercover with a perfect disguise. He’s famous for being seen with the right people, and because of that he thinks he can get a group of fanatics called Perfect Human Race to take the bait and capture him. The group he works for is trying to find out were the headquarters of the cell is so they can take them out, and this is the best way. He’s sure that Nicole is one of the PHR... after all, how else would she have found him on his secluded beach? I really enjoyed this story, it’s a fast paced, action packed tale that kept me on the edge of my seat for most of it. It did drag a bit in the end, but overall it was wonderful. Nicole is a great character, strong yet vulnerable at times. Dom was great, he thought he had it all figured out until he met Nicole, and watching him fall for her was something else. This story definitely left me wanting to find more of the series and see what was going on with the other characters that were already together. However, I didn’t feel like I needed to read their stories to feel like this one was complete. Department 57: Crystal Captive is definitely worth a look.
