Cupid's Delight

Cynthia Nixon wakes to find a short muscular man sitting on the edge of her bed. He introduces himself as Cupid and it seems he has been handed the job from his predecessor and has been sent to help her fall in love. Cynthia has convinced herself that she must have Taylor, the bartender at a local pub. At first she is appalled with the God of Love's candor but grows to appreciate it as he works to fulfill her heart's desire.

It's official -- I love Cupid. This was a delightful, quick read. I enjoyed the unique take on the whole kissing-the-frog-who-turns-into-a-prince theme. The bantering between Cupid and Cynthia is fabulous and had me laughing out loud throughout the entire short story. I wish it had been a little longer so that our heroine could have been a little more developed. I was so happy with the ending that I can still feel myself smiling over it. I recommend this Valentine's Day treat without the usual sugary sweet typical cherub-like winged god.
