| Claire is distraught because her mother has recently passed away and it has been determined to be suicide. Claire and her mother were not close, but she knows her mom would not have committed suicide. Returning to her mom's house after the court case to determine her inheritance, Claire is confronted with Seth and Simon, two men who claim her mother has information about their past. Before they can confirm anything, an attempt is made on Claire's life and she is on the run from the company who employed her mother. During their escape, they encounter a friend of Seth and Simon's, Cole, and a friend of Claire's, Drake, who also happens to be Claire's sex toy. As they hide out with other men in their same situation they discover some answers and the beginning of a new life for all of them.
This latest installation of the Cyborg World series is just as exciting as the previous releases. I still enjoy the alpha men behaving like children until they experience satisfaction with their mate, and then the behavior is somewhat tempered. The author has been consistent throughout the series with her characters and their personalities while at the same time infusing the story with new twists and turns to make each book individual and interesting. This book introduces us to more of the cyborg people and lets us see some more of their emotions and how they see themselves. Once the reader gets used to the idea of one woman having to contract with at least two but no more than four men, the sex scenes seem almost tame compared to what they could be. I believe the author is putting more emotion and realism into the sex and not so much eroticism. This was a complete book but I would have really liked it more if it had not ended where it did but a couple of months later. I definitely would like to read more about the cyborg nation and how these characters are adjusting.
