| Daniel Nicholson was an up-and-coming advertising executive who had been nominated for Man of the Year. His usual ‘eye-candy’ was on his arm and all the people deferred to him. His reputation was well known. When he was approached by another business person, Charlotte Singer, she showed him a picture of her god daughter, Amy, who was four years old. Her mother, Gretchen Parks was Charlotte’s former college roommate. Daniel hadn’t seen Gretchen since she left him almost five years ago. Their short-lived affair obviously had resulted in a child.
Gretchen Parks’ daughter, Amy, was well adjusted and happy. Her biggest problem in life was that she didn’t have a daddy. The small town of Marydale, Ohio, was home for these two and the teacher knew how it bothered Gretchen when the father-daughter event was announced. This time Amy was hidden in the bathroom at school and refused to come out. This day was definitely not the time for Daniel to show up and start asking questions. Ms. Melissa Beck has written a great book about a couple who faced a gigantic, seemingly insurmountable problem. These two characters, while vulnerable were strong personalities. The sexual chemistry was sizzling. The action in the bedroom was not offensive, but it was interesting. This book was fast-paced and so interesting that I did not want to quit reading until I finished it. This storyline is poignant and emotionally appealing. The other cast members were so typically small-town and so interested in the activities of the main couple that it was also comical. Ms. Beck’s writing style was dynamic and full of life that there were no slow points in the book. It was definitely a page-turner. I highly recommend this book as one which will grab your attention and hold it until the very last page. The beginning was great. The ending was fabulous. What was between those points was definitely energetic. You will be thrilled after you’ve read this book.
