Hector MacLean is one of those jovial older gents who seems to be the life of the party. His hit series of kids' books about a dog named Dennis has enabled him to buy a hotel and live like a country man of leisure. Daughter Daisy almost seems to be his opposite. A marriage that turned sour ends in devastation when her cheating almost-ex spouse is killed in a car crash. Daisy is a good manager but she, best friend Tara, and Tara's mother Maggie have relationships that are complicated.

Jill Mansell pulls a reader into the book immediately and keeps us wanting more. She delivers on every page. There's never a dull moment in the lives of the three main female players. A cute puppy and a precocious child bring even more smiles as the topsy turvy love lives of Daisy, Tara, and Maggie go round and round. Rocky, Dev, Hector, and Josh are almost like supporting players as we wait to find out what happens with the girls.

Dialogue among the players is often priceless. Each of the women has their own starring role but I think Maggie's escapade with the washing machine repairman is my favorite part of the book. Or maybe it's Tara's driving lessons. Well, maybe it's….you get the pictture? There are so many parts of this story that are memorable and just plain fun. I think most readers will find it easy to relate to each of the characters or situations in some way or another. If not just have fun because this book is a definite keeper. It's one of those that will draw you out of everyday life into the pages as only the best can do.
