| Jocelyn is a single mother who is tired of the losers in her dating pool. With the encouragement of a friend, she sets up a night of no-strings-attached sex with an escort. It's so good, she finds she can't get enough of him. When she takes the time to get to know him as a person, not a sex toy, she falls for him.
Once again, Gallagher has hit it out of the park. Though I have little in common with Jocelyn, I felt an immediate connection with her, thanks in no small part to Gallagher's gift of creating incredible, dynamic characters that leap off the page. Jocelyn has a lot of love to give and she's a genuine person, the kind I'd like to have as a friend. Sabian is perfectly developed, from that first time we see him as a paid escort and throughout the story as we get to know him. From a plot perspective, it moves quickly and keeps you turning pages. I love how Gallagher's writing style makes me want to read slow and absorb every word, yet at the same time, I want to race through it to experience the whole story. Damaged Goods is definitely worthy of multiple reads. Once again, Gallagher takes on a difficult, painful and realistic subject, makes us squirm, laugh, and love right along with the characters, and forces us to face our preconceptions. I like that she doesn't shy away from difficult topics, and her characters always handle them with more grace and understanding than I ever could. Gallagher takes the reader on an emotional journey and also fill the pages with hot erotica that leaves you breathless and panting for more.
