| One day Larissa Morley stuck a thumbtack into a map and ended up in Mingus, Texas. Now she's the proud owner of the Honky Tonk. When a deer causes Hank Wells to crash his pickup and force the feisty barkeep into a ditch, there's instant physical attraction. Larissa is not interested in long-term relationships but soon she and the summer cowboy are baling hay and scraping paint together. When they take time off from the hard work, they give into their attraction. When Larissa finds out the reason Hank is in the area is on a reconnaissance mission to see what it will take for her to sell the bar, it becomes a face-off in front of the whole town. Can the couple compromise and save their relationship as well as the beer joint?
Whoa Nellie! This fun read will definitely wet your whistle. If you're a fan of country music you won't want to miss this boot scootin' contemporary full of sexy cowboys and sassy women. This was a fun love story full of jukebox jewels that helped move the plot along and enhance the overall enjoyment of this countrified romance. The series is based around the Honky Tonk, a beer joint without pretensions so you're in for a truck bed full of country song references. Carolyn Brown has a talent to make me chuckle out loud on many occasions and her characters become my friends faster than I sometimes can believe. Larissa and Hank were both fantastic and so perfect for one another. I'm not a big fan of having the heroine and hero lie to each other either outright or through omission but the story was so well constructed that I found myself enjoying the story despite that. I loved seeing the interactions between Doreen and her friends. So kick up those cowboy boots and enjoy another happily-ever-after romance from a lady who sure can cowboy up!
