A vicious serial killer is targeting the prostitutes of New York City, both male and female. Nick D'Amato is worried about his lover Will whose street name is "Squeak." After nine months Nick wants the two to settle down together somewhere and get Will away from the dangers of the street. He finds he's not only fighting against time before the killer strikes again, he's also struggling against Will's addiction to casual sex with strangers.

Jenna Byrnes has penned a great story of romance, hot sex, action and life on the streets of NYC. Nick's relationship with fellow gay cops Sam Nielson and Gil Gates is a wonderful example of male bonding whatever the gender preference. The dialogue among the three is often a high point of the book. Their protectiveness of one another, the camaraderie and teasing, is well done.

The same kind of crafting of the characters and dialogue happens with Nick and Will and in interactions with less prominent players. Nick sounds like a great cop. If only he can solve the problem of Will's penchant for strangers before the serial killer strikes too close to home. Ms. Byrnes continues to build stories that hold all the best things we seek in fiction. This one kept me captivated from first page to last.
