Between jobs as the result of a boss with roving hands and demands she wouldn't meet, Dorothy Carson agrees to go to the town where he grandmother grew up to get her old home ready for occupancy. Entranced by the mystery surrounding the death of her namesake, great aunt Dorothy, she gets involved with trying to solve a crime that is two generations old. People in the town seem to have varying degrees of welcome. Some see her as the spitting image of her great aunt, others seem to see her as a threat to the lives they've built since the murder putting her in danger.

Tiarie Vaughn-Lazzar has penned a great romance fraught with mystery that seem to get more complicated on every page. The characters are many as those of the previous generations blend with the current grown up children of many of them. Dorothy, Jonah, Leila, Ronny are the new generation. Grandmother Lois, George Casey, the Henning sisters, Salome Burgess and others are living with a past that has haunted them since they were teenagers. A mysterious email advisor calling himself "The Eye" helps and provides more fuel to the suspense.

Around every bend there's a character who has to be examined for their involvement on the night that changed the elders' lives forever. Ms. Vaughn-Lazzar gives us plenty of food for thought as we work with Dorothy and her friends to figure out this great who-dunit. There are plenty of surprises for even the most avid mystery-solver. This looks like it could be the beginning to a great series about the townspeople of Sleepy Oaks. I hope so since the author does a wonderful job blending romance and inspirational messages for life with mystery.
