Madeline finds herself stuck in an obscure Columbian prison while trying to protect her sister. Drugs and arms trafficker Hector Ortiz offers Madeline her freedom and drug rehabilitation for her sister if only she will help him and Jorge de Silva with their arms dealings. For three years, she poses as de Silva's mistress, losing a little bit of her self-worth each day, when Madeline finally finds out her sister has been dead for months. She decides to escape in the only way she can. Soon her actions bring Drake and his A-Tac team who get her out of de Silva's compound but they still have to get out of the jungle, and locate the contraband that only Madeline can find. Madeline's reluctance to placidly go with Drake and his team make him unsure about Madeline's loyalty. Unfortunately, somebody is sharing secrets and the enemy is always one step ahead of them. Their mission goes badly and Madeline and Drake are stranded in the jungle and must find a way to trust each other or face the consequences.

Dangerous Desires is the second book in the A-Tac series following Dark Deceptions. It can certainly be read by itself with no problem. However, it is such a well written and intriguing story that I am sure fans will want to read all the books in the series.

This book moves quickly with action on every page. While there are quite a few characters, it was very easy to keep them separated. Madeline is a very strong heroine and easily one of the most resilient and optimistic characters I've read in a long time. Her actions, while not the best option sometimes, certainly were understandable given her history and the ordeal she has been through for the past three years. Drake brings his own set of disappointments that makes it hard for him to trust any female. It was entertaining to watch their struggle to trust each other mixed with their mutual desire for each other. The main focus of the book was on the suspense and the sexual tension was a perfect accompaniment. A-Tac's harmony with each other while working under intense stress and danger added an interesting dimension to the plot. This series is supposed to be a trilogy but with all the characters, I really hope more stories will become available. Read this one if you like dark and gritty suspense, action packed pages, and mild romance forged in the dangers of a Columbian jungle.
