Marianne Forster has spent the last eight years caring for her sick father. Now that he's gone she wants to live a litte and visit the place her grandfather made come alive in his stories. In Morocco she meets Alan Waring who's stranded while waiting for a way to get his information out of the country to his HQ. The two people are loners. One from necessity, one from habit because of his line of work. When their bags are mixed up Mari is mistaken for an agent. Alan has to call on all his wit and any friends he has to get her back before the kidnappers find out she's not the one they needed.

Anna Louise Lucia writes an excellent suspense combined with the story of two people who must become the best they can be to survive and have any kind of relationship. The two are about as different as they can be. She's been made a recluse by her father and his doctor since she was fifteen.. Not until he's gone does she find out she's been trapped in a web of lies. Alan has been living a lie all of his life as an agent. Very few people know the real man. Marianne refuses to be tied to a man who won't allow her to be herself. Through the hardships she's put through she finds out what she can be. Alan may lose her if he's not able to be man enough to let go of the lies and let her into his heart and life.

The author does a great job sharing the wonders of the desert as well as the growth of these two people with us. Most of us will never live through their circumstances but I think most readers can relate in some way to the journey of discovery they both make about themselves. Secondary characters help them along and add some unique contributions to our enjoyment of the story and the suspense that surrounds the primary characters. This is a well crafted tale that takes us places we may never go on our own.
