| Maita has a busy life working as a horse trainer for Rylan McDermit. On the side she rides bareback broncs in rodeos, and one day meets at one of these events another woman, who during the conversation says some rather strange things, about Rylan. It turns out that Ann is Rylans girlfriend. A short time later, at the after-rodeo party a friend of Rylans, Kade Severn, rescues her from being molested by a drunken cowboy. Just a few minutes with him and this strong confident woman is a heap of melted butter in the hands of this dominating, virile man.
There is something strange, but seductive about Kade. He is very much like the horses she works with every day, wild, unbroken, untamed. Something she separates in her own personal life. The men in her past had learned that equality, whether in the bedroom or elsewhere in the relationship, was a given and not to be even thought of lightly, almost as if a bit of her was like the untamed horses she excels with. Commitment to another is not in the picture. Oddly enough, though, for the first time she finds herself wondering what it would feel like to be the one surrendering to a man like Kade. I loved this novel. This is the first novel in this genre where I feel I really understand what the psychological reasoning behind dominance and submissiveness is. And this story works.the figures of Kade and Maita have learned that they can finally give of themselves without losing any of their natural need for control. Truly powerful and I am impressed, to say the least. Excellent novel, even for those not necessarily into BDSM.
